What is a clinical psychologist?
Clinical psychologists have eight years of psychological training including a Masters of Clinical Psychology. Clinical psychologists specialise in assessing, diagnosing, and treating psychological disorders. They are regarded as having a high level of focussed mental health training amongst Medicare and Australia’s health and mental health industries. Will I need a referral?
It is possible to access services without a referral however if you would like to access a Medicare rebate, you will need a Mental Health Care Plan referral from your GP. Department of Veterans Affairs clients with also need a referral from their GP (see Funding Options). If you do not have a valid referral on the day of your appointment, you will not be able to receive a rebate. Information on Medicare can be found here.

How many sessions are covered under a Mental Health Care Plan?
A Mental Health Care Plan entitles you to ten, rebated sessions per calendar year. All sessions attract a gap fee.

What mental health conditions are covered under the Mental Health Care Plan?
The Medicare initiative covers a number of conditions including: psychotic disorders, schizophrenia, bipolar disorders, specific phobias, anxiety disorders, adjustment disorder, depression, sexual disorders, bereavement (grief) disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, personality disorders, eating disorders, panic disorder, alcohol use disorder, drug use disorder, sleep disorders, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, and obsessive compulsive disorder (see Funding Options).

How long is a consultation?
Sessions are fifty minutes in duration.

What should I bring to my first session?
Please bring your referral (if you have one) and a completed client information form.

What is the cancellation policy?
Cancellations within 48 hours attract a fee.
